Hi! I’m Amanda, founder of LIMNade LLC, where I provide support and content for creative people—almost exclusively crochet designers—allowing them to spend more time creating. I spend most of my work week helping other people with their blogs, but unbelievably, until now, I didn’t have my own blog (well, at least not this decade)!

This largely stems from the fact that when started my business, life had just handed me a whole crate of lemons (we’ll get more into that in the future). As a single mom, I needed to hit the ground running and start earning right away. And I did. I’ve met some incredible people and worked behind the scenes on some exciting projects. But all along, I’ve had these niggling feelings of wanting more.

Sometimes, I will be writing an article and think of a funny turn of phrase or a cool anecdote and I can’t use it because it’s someone else’s blog. I need to preserve the client’s voice. Here, in my own space, I can add a little more of my own voice because it’s mine.

I hope that through sharing my story, I will help others feel less alone. We’re all doing our best with what we have, figuring things out day by day. So let’s figure it out together. The sweet life is within reach, even if we get there one drop at a time. 🍋😊

What is Making LIMNade all about?

Part of the reason I’ve delayed starting this blog is I’ve been thinking and overthinking it for years. I’m fascinated by so many topics that it’s hard to identify a niche. Should I focus on crochet and crafts? Homesteading? Working from home? Frugal living? Single motherhood? Then it hit me. I don’t draw those distinctions in everyday life so why should I draw them for a blog about my life? Every single one of those things is an important part in the life my family and I are trying to create.

So instead, I’m going to share all the ways we find and create beauty in our lives—through creativity, nurturing, business—all the ingredients that go into making our unique flavor of life. Not every single element will be sweet, but it all comes together to make something delicious.

What the heck is LIMNade?

What does “LIMNade” mean, anyway? Why did I choose this seemingly unpronounceable name? It all started with that huge stumbling block that so many new business owners face—choosing a name. Our last name is pretty common, so anything using it has been registered looong ago. So I mixed and remixed all of our initials to come up with something resembling a word. LIM-N-ade. Sounds like lemonade.

And although it’s a little awkward, this name really speaks to the why behind my business. I’m doing it for the family—to have a flexible way to support our needs, work with people and content that I love, and build a beautiful life that we can’t wait to wake up for every day. And I hope that, along the way, we can encourage others to make beautiful lives of their own.
